Safeguarding

The Dunraven Educational Trust (the ‘Trust’) is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff, volunteers and any visitors to our schools to share this commitment.  The Trust aims to provide a caring, positive, safe and stimulating environment which promotes the social, physical and moral development of the individual, and works hard to ensure that every young person in the Trust feels safe, secure, well cared for, and able to reach their full potential.

The Trust understands and is committed to the vital contribution that all Trustees, Governors, staff, parents, carers and young people can make to safeguarding. Every member of staff must be clear about the importance of providing an environment that helps young people feel safe and respected and is working to help each school to develop a culture where young people are encouraged to talk openly, and have the confidence they will be listened to.  The Trust ensures that all Trustees and Governors undertake appropriate annual safeguarding training which is in line with the current guidance.  Our schools ensure all staff undertake annual training and regular updates throughout the course of the year, as well as reading as a minimum part one of the DfE guidance Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE).

We have a number of policies and procedures in places at each of our schools that contribute to our safeguarding commitment. Each school has a Designated Safeguarding Lead who can be contacted if you have any concerns.  The Trust Board and each of our Local Governing Boards has a designated member who is the Safeguarding Link who is responsible for advocating child protection and safeguarding issues within the school.

The Trust’s Designated Safeguarding Lead is David Boyle, CEO: boyle.d@det.org.uk

The designated Safeguarding Trustee is Sarah Tillotson: s-tillotson@det.org.uk
